Safe Harbor Documentation

Setting up Amazon S3

Setting up Safe Harbor with your Amazon S3 account is easy! All versions require your Amazon Web Services Access Key Identifiers (Access Key ID and Secret Access Key). You can find these by signing into your Amazon Web Services account.

Backups will only be stored on your Amazon S3 Service if "Enabled?" is checked.

ExpressionEngine 3+

In addition to your Access Key identifiers, you will need to create a bucket for Safe Harbor to store your backups in. You will need to enter the bucket name and region and may optionally enter an endpoint. Create your bucket through your Amazon Web Services account.

Bucket names should follow Amazon's naming convention rules.

  • Bucket names must be at least 3 and no more than 63 characters long.
  • Bucket names must be a series of one or more labels. Adjacent labels are separated by a single period (.). Bucket names can contain lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Each label must start and end with a lowercase letter or a number.
  • Bucket names must not be formatted as an IP address (e.g., 192.168.5.4).

For EE2, Safe Harbor will create its own bucket called "bucket-[auth code]" where [auto code] is the code you entered into the Auth Code field.
